Thunder Bay: Part 3

May 09, 2006 22:51

Sorry it's been a while, been busy with my blogcrews and all that. Anyway, time to return to my travel journal

Monday, February 20
It was about 9:30 or 10:00 when I woke up that morning. Had my morning tea and breakfast while Grandma and I watched TV (she watches Millionaire, followed by Guiding Light, and then we watched The Price Is Right). With TPIR, we had a lot of fun playing along with the contestants. I don't remember when it was, but that week there was a 0-for-6 day with the games with a double overbid to add insult to injury.
After the shows were over and I was dressed, we were going into town for a bit so Grandma could run a few errands. The bus stop was right at the corner near the church where my uncle Tony got married, the city must have had put the routes in place after I moved away. So anyway, the East End bus (route 12) picked us up and took us to the Victoriaville Centre on Syndicate Avenue. I remember coming here sometimes when I was little, it amazed me to see how much the place had changed.
I stood with Grandma as she paid some bills, then we went into the dollar store to look for a new tablecloth for the kitchen table. We both liked this one design we saw, so she purchased it. We then went outside to the little strip plaza just near the centre and picked up a few things in the supermarket, then went into Shoppers Drug Mart (I needed some more cleanser for my face, as I had only brought two little sample packets with me). I wanted to buy it for myself, but Grandma insisted on paying for it, which was a nice gesture.
After our business was done outside, we walked back through the mall to the bus stop. Looking at the various route schedules, I knew that if I wanted to go back to my old neighborhood, I would have to take the Northwood bus. It was a little cold out, so we waited in the shelter for the bus to come. When it did, we got on and rode past some familiar sights like the Fort William Gardens (I had seen a couple of circuses there before).
It was about 2:30 when we arrived back at the church, so we walked the rest of the way back to the house. It was a good thing we got back when we did, because the gold medal women's hockey match between Canada and Sweden had just started. What an amazing game it was, Canada ended up beating the Swedes 4-1, and I knew Debi would be happy because she's a huge hockey fan. But pretty much after that, it was a very relaxing rest of the day.
