Hellooooo LJ
Today was my THIRTEENTH boot camp session. Lucky number 13. It was also my first sunburn (oopsies!)
I had Dave take what I intend to be monthly pictures again tonight. Compared them with the April pictures....um...yeah, they're the same. The only differnce seems to be the lighting and the fact that I'm wearing my glasses. Oh well! My back and lovehandles may be a TAD different, but otherwise...yeah, sunburnt and wearing glasses. :)
So far I've only done the Twice-a-Day thing twice. The first time was the 18th when our contest started and holy cow it was hard. There were more young people (15 year old volleyball players!) and runners and the outside thing is hard. And it's a LOT more running and hills and a lot of up and down, which for me is exhausting. So the next Thursday I chickened out.
I was immediately regretting chickening out and decided to go again Tuesday night, but all of Tuesday was cancelled because Marty got strep throat. So I was back to it this Thursday and it went a lot better. A couple of the younger kids came to the AM session and really struggled with the weights we lift, and that gave me a bit more confidence. I figure if they struggle with weights it's okay for me to struggle with running! So I made it through most of Thursday night...maxed out about 5 minutes before it was over. Almost puked. Had to fit for quite awhile before I could make it to my car. But I am SO GLAD I went. I felt like an outsider the first time because everyone else knew each other from last summer, but it's already better. They're all really nice.
Today was our first Saturday, 9 am at a lake. It was pretty rough. I didn't quit and I didn't cry, but I wanted to. We started doing our normal outdoor stuff, running and lunges and push ups and junk. He brought a giant monster truck tire (NO idea why anyone would own a giant truck tire...I guess it's beacuse he's from Council Bluffs (redneckville)) and we had to flip it. Like lift it up and flip it over and over across a soccer field. Those things are HEAVY! But alll that stuff was fine, no biggie, usual circuit kinda junk.
Then he makes us all lock our keys and phones in his truck and goes marching up this hill. Over a fence. Through knee high weeds. And we end up on this trail on top of like...the dam I guess? And there's a trail along the top part (paved) and another trail close to the shore (gravel). So then he tells us we're going to RUN all the way down the paved trail and all the way back on the gravel (which, btw, starts and ends going down and up a big steep hill).
And not only that, but he points out all the park benches along the trail and tell us we have to stop and do other stuff on them. Push-ups and dips and step-ups. And he's going to TIME US.
So...anyway, once we got going he told me not to do the step-ups (too high for me right now, "can't" do it (can, but it kills me) and I should just do squats instead. So thank goodness for that.
But holy cow, I have no idea how far this is, but it seemed REALLY far.
The fastest girl finished in just over 9 minutes.
The second-to-the-slowest took 16 or so.
It took me like...23 something.
But whatever, I did it. Plus, this is the first try. We have to do the same thing again in two weeks, so I wouldn't want to set the bar TOO high the first time ;)
Anyway, I'm just glad I finished. I mean, that was after 30 minutes of REALLY intense work out, too. Could've definitely done better if we'd started with that. But I still think I did all right.
Next Saturday he's gonna time us doing our Frisbee Circuit. We don't throw frisbees, I have no idea why frisbees are involved, he's pretty creative really. He's got these frisbees with exercises written on the backs. He lays them out in a circle and you run to one, flip it over to see what to do, and do it. Then you run to the next one. The hardest part for me on that is all the up and down. It'll be like...sprint over to a frisbee, do 20 push ups, pop up, sprint to another one, do 20 squats, sprint to another, 20 sit ups, etc. So there's a lot of lying on the ground and standing back up that kinda makes me dizzy and pukey. But oh well, it's good for me. :)
Anyways, my new job is fabulous so far. Well...I haven't actually started training for my real new job (training starts Tuesday, we were helping catch up on data entry the first couple weeks) but I LOVE the company. I could spend hours listing all the awesome things. They have a ridiculously awesome wellness program. There's a website we go to to track points we earn for things, and right now I'm on track to earn a $500 bonus at the end of the year. It's awesome!
Plus they have a gym and locker room, so I can go straight there from morning boot camps and shower. Saves me a good 15 minutes so I can stay for the full hour of camp instead of leaving early. <3 PLUS they have a towel service! And it's actually fairly nice and fairly clean. (small, but nice).
And they have a cafeteria with the menu and full nutrition info posted on the website too! So if I don't pack my lunch I can get something healthyish. And they subsidize it so it's pretty affordable too!
Also, have I mentioned that I get 21 DAYS of PTO? I could take an entire month off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
