Lemony Snicket: Shorter in person?
I have to finish packing and see if I can squeeze in writing another few hundred words before I'm off this afternoon with bessiemaemucho to Chicago to see Lemony Snicket tomorrow. Lemony Snicket! I'm excited; he's a huge celebrity. I expect him to be shorter in person. Seriously, though, along with Ridley Pearson, Dave Barry, Sid Fleischman, and Bruce Coville, Mr. Snicket will be the fifth children's book author autograph I've managed to snag this semester. I'm on a roll!
Today is also a good day because I received my SASE back in the mail from Holiday House, responding to my query letter. I met editor Meghan Day at the SCBWI conference, and we talked about her job, and then after the conference I queried her. She sent back a very nice, non-form reply that requests to see my full manuscript. Yay!
