MONKEYS

Hello to All!
I am currently writing you from Sydney Australia, where it is Summer!! Our hostel overlooks beautiful Bondi Beach that I have yet to visit. Desdpite was all the other travellers told us it is COLD!
We flew in safely last night from Singapore, where our 5 days flew by quite quickly. When we first arrived there Bettina and I were really depresses and ready to head back to our friends in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Before we got of the plane we had to get a bag together with all our gum, cigarettes and hope and dreams of a good time and throw them all away.
The first thing that we noticed about Singapore is that it is ridiculously CLEAN. We went from the usual of avoiding public toilets to using them as much a possible. Even the hostel was beautiful, with mahogany wood floors and gorgeous bunk beds.
We also realized right away that Singapore is really expensive and that there is not a whole ton to do. (besides the zoo, I will get into that later!!) We were forced to be more social since we were both low on cash and love for Singapore. Once we changed our attitudes we met so many great people and spent a lot of time chilling in the hostel.
One of our new friends, Janiene even convinced us to head to Malaysia with her for the day. The three of us went crazy in a 5 story mall where we could bargain. B and I bought some cute party clothes for when we head to Fiji and Janiene found some appropriate work clothes since she was leaving the world of backpacking and heading back in the real world the next day.
To celebrate the end of here journey and her return home to Australia, we all got dressed up in our new clothes and headed to a local club. It was very different from LA club for sure. The crowd was very tame and there was actually room on the dance floor. I even got on an elevated platform and did the running man with an old guy. :o) It was nice to be goofy and just have fun. My mad dancing skills only attracted one person, a small Japanese girl who kept insisting I go home with her. I opted out of that idea.
Later that night when we were leaving the club B grabbed my arm and said “I think we should offer to help.” There was a woman passed out and surrounded by security guards. We talked to her friend who informed us that all their friends had just left them there and the security guards insisted that she be removed from the club. So the three of us helped carry her out while her friend hailed a cab, which refused to take her. So B and I sat with her while her friend made calls and Janeine talked to the security guards. Anyways they ended up getting a ride and her friend was so grateful. She kept saying, “I can’t believe you travellers stopped to help when no of the locals did.” The three of us went home in our new clothes looking cute and smelling like vomit.
We met another sweet friend, Helena who joined us for the night safari at the zoo and numerous shopping trips. She also had us get all dressed up to head to the Long Bar, where they invited the Singapore Sling. The girls all enjoyed their slings while my tummy forced me to have a $9.00 ice tea. We only stayed for one drink.
Ok I am running out of paid time and I have not even mentioned anything about the fabulous zoo. It was fantastic! I was overjoyed because it has the largest diversity of primates and more than any other zoo in the world. They even had proboscis monkeys!! (a big nosed monkey that my Emma taught me all about.) There where no bars, just natural barriers. We were so close to all the animals.
Times almost up I need to send this out! I will write more later!!
