I don't have a full recap from my Jimmy show yet because I can't wrap my head around it, but I figured I'd come over and give you a quick recap, plus share a few pics from NYC! Mostly cross posted from the Kill the Band board, with other things added in.
Back from the School of Rock show and OMG --- what an amazing night. First of all, Jimmy looked amazing - he had on a Fedora and a grey suit type thing with a red shirt (Yes, I said a red shirt). Jimmy and Static played Mercy & Realize with the SOR kids along with Billie Jean (and we got a bit of a moonwalk from him too), The Fly, and Paranoid Android. His acoustic set was great, a lot of new stuff with some old. I cannot WAIT for the new album - coming out in February (which Jimmy confirmed when I talked to him after).
He sang (in no particular order)
Murder
I'm A Monster
Kill Me
Light In the Grave
Darling
Bring You Home
Mystery
The Heart
Somebody To Love (With Zoe)
Medication
Dizzy
Ran Away to Tell The World
Static was dressed up as a pirate for awhile (and he made a really hot one). When we had walked in, Static was standing at the front door with Jimmy's dad! I didn't realize who it was until after we had walked into the space and it registered in my brain. Its probably a good thing I didn't run into Jimmy at the front door because I more than likely would have said something stupid. Met Jimmy after, got my CD signed (finally, only took 3 tries) and a picture, and JIMMY HUGS. (Best. Hugs. Ever)
I still can't stop the verbal vomit from coming when I talk to him. and I blathered on about how this was the third time I tried to get my CD signed by him. I really want to tell him how much his music touches me, but I can't seem to verbalize it. His music has always touched me, but there was something with the acoustic show and new music that has sunk deep in and settled in my soul in a way I wasn't sure was possible. Erin suggested I write him a letter to give to him at the Maxwells show, which is not a bad idea. On the way out we ran into Static and I got a picture with him too. He was the cutest thing, babbling on with me about how his costume was so last minute and he wanted to be the Man in Black from The Princess Bride but couldn't find the right mask.
Mer who I took with me had a BLAST and is a convert. We got back around 1 and ended up staying up WAY TOO LATE Friday night/Saturday morning before meeting Caroline for brunch and then proceed to WALK all over the city. Well, not all over the city, just from Times Square to Central Park. And the NYC Marathon was today, so there was a lot of activity down in Central Park, where the finish line was. Last night we ended up just going downtown to get chinese food where they serve you cheap wine with it. It was pretty good and a nice fairly low key way to spend Halloween. Ryan Star was playing a show downtown but it was a LONG way from where we were, plus it was going to be nuts downtown. As much as I love Ryan, I'm glad we didn't go - I'll see him the next time he comes to this area.
Ok, picture time! Over all it was an amazing weekend, and I can't wait for Jimmy's Maxwell's show in December!
