Teito has gotten to the point where he admits he likes Devit, so even if Devit is kind of annoying sometimes it's okay because that's the way he is. Thus, Teito is willing to try and get along with him more for himself, and less for Hakuren's sake! He still has reservations of course, and he suspects he knows what Hakuren is trying to do with Devit and their relationship and has a sad suspicion it probably not work-- that is Hakuren trying to make Devit more 'good'.

Now, Teito KNOWS there is good in Devit. He's passed his initial wariness and can see the 'light', so to speak, in Devit now. But he is also very aware of Devit's 'darkness' and that it's not that easy to overcome, what with the struggle Teito has with his own darkness. He also knows that Devit's struggle with his darkness needs a lot more effort due to it being around 'longer' and also more pervading. And knowing Hakuren and how he insisted Teito was 'pure' when Teito knew very much that he wasn't and probably never will be... Teito gets the feeling that Hakuren is ( ... )

Hahaha, IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE

So Teito is watching and sort of waiting, because as much as he hates himself for it he doesn't think it will be a lasting thing. He encourages their relationship because it makes them happy now, and it's better to be happy than not at all, but Teito would also like to say his thoughts to both of them!

Is exactly what Devit thinks of it too. He knows it's just. Not possible for it to last, no matter what Hakuren says. The only way it would be possible is if Devit's Noah were entirely removed, because if it's not then he doesn't age and even if he goes back to Hakuren's world it would . . . end in mutual death because Devit would kill Hakuren after a certain point (when he aged too much/got sick/they broke up/etc.) and then Devit would probably be killed for that in turn, and so would Jasdero, and so on. S-so Devit understands that it just isn't okay. Which is why he tried to fight it for a long time. But he figured out exactly what Teito's figured out, that it's better to be happy with it now than to ( ... )

SEE THE FOURTH AND FIFTH PARAGRAPH ABOVE and also the sentence after that excerpt for my reply to that because TEITO KNOWS DEVIT KNOWS AND HAS HIS REASONS and he's just frustrated. :(!

I KNOW, YOU'RE SO CUTE TEITO :( Hahahah sob the Noah is so complicated. Devit should talk about it to Teito some more \o/ IT'S--because it's an actual Thing inside him that talks to him and affects his mind and makes him crazy, he . . . he can change his behavior to an extent but he can't change what he is inside. Ever. Without it being removed completely. The Noah just doesn't get better. IT'S VERY SAD. There's just no amount of logic and love and Jesusing that could ever make Devit "okay" unless it involves literally ripping out that part of his soul.

Which I suspect will prove to be possible in canon, but, you know. |D

THAT'S PART OF THE REASON WHY TEITO SUSPECTS IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK he sort of associates it with when he had a Wars stuck inside Michael stuck inside HIM and that was really not fun. Especially when he reflects Devit might have that ALL THE TIME! But he has to try for their future happiness dammit ;;.

...also it's times like these when we reflect that sometimes our characters are a bit too similar when they reach the same thought processes (though albeit in different ways and for different reasons).
