Favorite series finale: Gurren Lagann
I couldn't find any finale clips that weren't from the recap movie so...here's the actual episode (ignore the ad, it's an official video). Obviously you don't have to watch the whole thing because if you haven't seen the rest of the show it probably won't make a lick of sense, but...dayum.
Yes, those were people standing in drills just to look badass.
Yes, that was a giant robot standing on a galaxy.
Yes, those were giant robots fighting on galaxies.
Yes, those were giant robots throwing galaxies at each other.
No, the dub dialogue isn't really the best.
But that's not the point.
Gurren Lagann is one of the manliest shows I've ever seen, and it's amazing. Most of the episode (and the show, for that matter) may be about giant robots beating the ever-loving crap out of each other, the ending has such a beautifully executed message about progression and moving forward (watch after the credits for the epilogue) and why Simon has probably one of the best coming-of-age stories in anything I've ever seen ever.
And yes, I did wind up re-watching the entire episode after I put the embedded code in. Because.
