...I have to say, it met my expectations in a very mixed way. As far as serving my need for sweet affectionate man-smexing, I definitely enjoyed it more than Brokeback Mountain. In terms of structure, I actually thought it was a bit awkwardly paced (some parts went by a little too fast and there were a lot of times in the first 45 minutes when I was thinking "wow, they've done so much already, what are they going to have happen in the rest of the movie?").
Also, spending an hour or so reading Jeeves and Wooster slashfics beforehand seems to have enhanced the experience. I mean, seriously, the hurt/comfort scene with Stephen Fry and a crying Jude Law sporting a remarkably similar hairstyle to a certain Mr. Wooster and at least one utterance of "Bosie" sounding almost exactly like "Bertie"? Yes, please.
In case you were wondering, yes I did go into this wondering to myself "okay, how much of this movie am I going to spend being unable to think of anything other than 'oh hay itz jeeves'?" You'd be surprised what long hair and the almost non-existent use of the word "sir" can do to a man, even if they have the same clever verbose pattern of speech.
And then he got out of prison.
And had a haircut.
And a black suit.
Cue my mind exploding.
Because, seriously, HOLY FUCK, IT'S JEEVES.
EXCEPT HE'S EDGIER AND HAS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT HAT.
Watch from 6:15. You'll see exactly what I mean. So yes. An evening most well-spent indeed. :D
