I am having SOOOO many problems with my "boss" from Tabard. She is such a control freak.
So, I am writing the season release and I asked for examples on last years so I can see what she likes. I know from experience that she expects me to write the way she would write even though I know that everyone has a different style and editors don't really care as long as you give them the who what where when and why.
So I use the example she sent, and the blurbs on the shows that she sent which she told me she wanted to have in all materials that were sent out and then made some statement about how the press release shouldn't use the fluff...well, I didn't get what she meant by the fluff and so I recreated last years season press release for this years shows and used the blurbs she sent me.
Well apparently, the release from last year was not what she wanted even though she failed to mention that to me and the blurbs were the fluff she was talking about and even though she said that using the ones she sent would help me get the release out quicker, I was supposed to re-write everything so it wouldn't be "fluff".
So now I am working on the calendar for the season. There is one show that has weird dates and times so I asked her how I should do that. This is what she sent to me:
"Poptimists does, indeed, run Tues - Sat. Essentially there run is straight through from opening to closing, just dark on Monday. A couple of ways to do this are
December 4 - 12, 8pm (no performance Dec. 7)
with matinees December 5 & 12, 3pm; December 6, 2pm
December 4 - 12, 8pm (no performance Dec. 7)
December 5 & 12, 3pm
December 6, 2pm
Evenings: Friday, December 4 through Saturday, December 12, 8pm (no performance Monday, Dec. 7)
Matinees: Saturdays, December 5 & 12: 3pm; Sunday, December 6: 2pm
For the calendar listing descriptions of the shows, you can use the short promo descriptions for each show. Calendar listings aren't treated in quite the same way as a press release."
SOOOOO. I copied the second one and put it in the document and sent it to her thinking I did exactly what she wanted of me...WRONG.
She sent a very direct note telling me that I was wrong and it should look like this for the sake of continuity:
Evenings 8pm (No performance Dec. 7)
Saturday matinees 3pm
Sunday matinee 2pm
That is NO WHERE IN THE FUCKING EMAIL SHE SENT ME SO WHY DID SHE SEND IT TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!
Gah. She probably won't even pay me what she said she would because I didn't do it right. Fucking bitch.
