Over half of San Diego is up in flames. They are predicting this will be worse than the hell we went through almost exactly 4 years ago that was called the Cedar Fire and was the worst fire ever recorded in history....

....my house might burn down.

I'm really worried about this whole thing. Jon's 87-year-old grandmother & his aunt have been evacuated (the fires are VERY close to where their houses are). :( I'll be hoping & praying for them & for your family. It's awful...

Have they evacuated? Where is your house? Jon's grandma is in Rancho Bernardo and his aunt is in Rancho Penasquitos (but they're now staying with his cousin in downtown, I think, wherever they haven't evacuated yet). So sad & scary. I wish there was more we could do for them. I wish they'd come out here & stay with us for awhile or something, but neither one of them wants to travel... :(

they were the first to evacuate. their entire city (ramona) was evacuated last night by 9:00pm.

if you know their street address this website tells you what houses have already been burned. (i know that sounds morbid but it gives you an idea)

I heard about Ramona :( I'm so sorry.

I don't think his grandmother's house is on the list, and they didn't list any from Rancho Penasquitos (it's kind of more on the other side, just evacuated to be safe... and because who knows where the fire will go next). So horrible :(

Yeah, from what we can see they haven't. I know Jon's grandma's house is in Rancho B., but it's across the road (Rancho Bernardo Road) from the fire.. apparently, at least from what we can see on the news fire maps. So, so far so good.

Who knows, she lives in an area that has a lot of elderly people living there. She lives off Pastoral road. It's still in the clear from what I can see... I keep praying they'll just get the fires in check. Do you know if they're going at them from the air? As in, if they're dumping water on them from planes/helicopters? I feel like they should be... and like it'd be EASY since there is water ALL around the area...

santa ana winds are intense hurricane like winds. i know they are trying but i think it's touch and go. the aircraft can't get close enough to the ground with the winds blowing like that...i think the winds were 60mph today.

Holy crap :(, yeah... I could see how that'd make things a LOT harder. I figured they were doing everything they could. I hope the winds die down a LOT... but I know that's possibly a pipe dream.

i think the santa ana's are supposed to leave on thursday...originally they were supposed to be leaving the area today around 4 but i guess they are sticking around for a while.
