Erimem stared blankly at the page in front of her. She had read it five times but still had no idea what was actually on the page. Her mind was elsewhere. Or more specifically, her mind was on Peri, who was lying in the grass next to her, sunbathing. This was rather unfair, Erimem thought, Peri knew she wanted to learn to read English yet she was lying there, wearing barely more than a bikini. As much as Erimem tried, she just could not concentrate on the words in front of her. So she eventually gave up, tossed the book away and rolled onto her side to face Peri. She gently brushed some hair out of Peri’s eyes, which woke her up. Peri smiled up at her best friend and Erimem’s heart leaped, the way it always did when Peri looked at her like that. She leant forward and placed a gentle kiss on Peri’s lips. Peri responded by sliding her hands up to the back of Erimem’s head, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss. Erimem couldn’t remember when she had felt so loved before Peri had entered her life.
