Weekend Edition

The weekend is off to a solid start. It was a hard week at work and it was excellent news that last nite's activity was cancelled. There was an opening at a new Eyetique...it's an optical store and owned by Joe's business partner, Norm. So Lex grabbed one of her buddies and we hit it. It was a nice opening with a jazz trio, passed h'oerdeuvres, a photographer from Whirl-the Pgh. social magazine...<<>>> and lots of fun people. The girls had fun trying sunglasses on and it didn't take long to pick a favorite pair, which happened to be Badgley Mischka and it was about $900. Leave it to them to go for the most expensive pairs but it was funny and the photographer was all over them. Lex was funny, she brought her Girl Scout Cookie order form and was working the crowd, including Norm, for orders.

When we left we went to Joe's sister's house (which is a.maz.ing) to see his nephew Stevie. He's been sick, mom and dad are out of town and an older cousin is house sitting/hanging out with the 2 boys who are 9 and 17. Stevie needed to interview a relative for a school assignment and picked Joe, so while they were doing that the girls and I entertained ourselves. The house is so cool. The downstairs gameroom has a full kitchen, much bigger than my own, a theater style projection tv (hunormous), huge fireplace, 2 offices, a workout room....something that feels so out of the question but is so fun to hang out in. It's such a home, though, not a showplace. It's so lived in and used by the kids. So fun. If I actually had a big old house like that, that's what I would like it to be. I don't though so I'm happy with my abode.

So we played with Stevie for awhile and when we came home Lex's friend slept over. This morning her bud has a bball game and Lex went with her. So after writing and enjoying some time aLOOONNNNNE which I covet, I am going to jump the gun here, even though it's early, and take down the Christmas Tree! Since I had broken my tailbone it was too much to tackle earlier in the month, and within the past 2 weeks it really has just blended in to the living room! I don't think I've ever let is go beyond my birthday, OY!

Hopefully the good weekend will continue. Perhaps another 2 hour delay Monday morning? Ahhhhh.....
