Now on to the FUN!!
1. Which do you like better: hosting Thanksgiving at your home, or going elsewhere?
I've honestly never NOT hosted Thanksgiving, so obviously I enjoy it. Call me Betty Draper, I host a fierce party
2. Do you buy a fresh or frozen turkey? Organic? Free-range?
That's a job for the boys! My dad, before he died, always was the cook of the family. And thankfully my fiance loves to cook. So they leave me to my baking, and I leave them to their cooking. Half the time we don't even have turkey though.
3. Do you make stuffing or dressing? What kind?
We used to always have dressing of some sort, but this year I know Adrian will want to make stuffing. So we'll see.
4. Sweet potato pie or Pumpkin pie?
PUMPKIN WITH WHIPPED CREAM!!!!
5. Are leftovers a blessing or a curse?
Both. I love not having to plan what to eat for meals over the next week, but my thighs hate me for it.
6. What side dishes are a must-have in your family?
My future husband's INCREDIBLE green bean casserole and my lussekatter (we are obsessed with them in our family, so we make them now and on St. Lucia Day). We used to always have lutefisk, but my brother started complaining too much. Unfortunately it probably won't be coming back. I didn't mind it, reminds me of my grandmother.
7. What do you wish you had that might make Thanksgiving easier?
Having my father back.
8. If/when you go to someone else’s house for the holiday, do you usually bring a dish? If so, what is it?
I would assume I'd bring lussekatter, no one knows what it is, but after they have it, they crave it! Scandinavian FTW
9. What do you wish one of your guests would bring to your house?
Booze!
10. What do you wish one of your guests would NOT bring to your house?
Drama
11. Do you stick with a particular menu from year to year, or do you mix it up?
Usually our main course changes year to year, we're not big turkey people. Give us fish and we go crazy. Although this year we have some family friends that will be coming over, and one is a professional chef... so who knows!
12. Is Thanksgiving a religious or secular holiday in your home?
Woah, woah, hold on. Since when was Thanksgiving EVER religious?!?! Secular secular secular
13. Share one Thanksgiving tradition.
Me baking pies, breads, and our fav, lussekatter. Then the men in the family always do the "real" cooking, and they do so well!
14. Share one Thanksgiving memory.
My mom trying to remember the Lord's Prayer to appease my grandfather, and that same year I think my grandfather pissed in his chair, hahaha. That's why you don't give old people wine.
15. Name five things you’re thankful for.
- my family
- my friends
- my beautiful baby Kei, our siberian husky
- our health insurance
- my breast cancer girls who have supported me in such a new and amazing way
