so much better

I posted this as a comment in Melissa's lj, but I thought that maybe more than just Melissa could benefit from the wisdom.... Read....

You know, I read a book today called Saving Karyn: One Shopaholic's Journey to Debt and Back.... this woman is so hilarious and cute and a little dense... she made $100,000/year but still managed to waste it all on purses and shoes. Then she fell into $25,000 worth of debt, so she started a website called savekaryn.com (it's a real website... you should go to it. She obviously already has a book, and she's making a movie, too)and people actually donated money to her, and food, shampoo, CDs, and all kinds of stuff, and bought all of her designer junk on eBay. Through all of their efforts, they helped her get out of debt.

A lot of anti-Karyn websites sprung up all over the Internet, telling people that she is a wh*re (which makes no sense!) and a liar (I can see how people might think that). People were criticizing her, saying that she's spoiled and that people should donate their money to charity instead of her. Karyn always said that she would be proud if people Xed out of her little site and donated to charity instead... she always intended her site to be for people who wanted to donate just to help out with nothing in return. People even asked what she would give them back, and she said nothing. She's so smart... you shouldn't always do nice things because you think there is a reward attached.

So what I am saying is, I had a crappy day today, but I know that it means nothing in the long run. You're always gonna have bad days, but in the end, you should think of all those nice people, for example, who helped out Karyn instead of judging her and calling her a failure or a loser like she thought they would. You know, this might come as a surprise, but a lot of times, people are good. Some are crappy (Happy Bunny: You suck and that's sad), but most people are actually loving and caring, with feelings, and hearts, and even just senses of humor. Many of the people sent her money because her website was so funny and honest that they just identified with her as a person with human faults, just like everyone else.

Okay?

So think about that. And go to her website. If nothing else, you can learn how to save money on water (refill a Poland Spring bottle with Brita and steal other people's caps when you lose your own! Or buy laundry detergent from the dollar store! Or wear a pair of pants and then return them with the tags stapled back on! Or get free coupons from Starbucks and count that as breakfast and lunch! Karyn lost a lot of weight when she was poor).

Well, I obviously elaborated on this when it got translated from Melissa's comment to my journal.

I love you all, and special <3's to Travis, Greg, Melissa, Tracy, Samantha Scarry, Mandi and Mrs. DiSano for being awesome. Sometimes it's comforting to know that there are people who love you no matter what.

Kyndra and Kristen, this entry is for you, too. Be happy.

PS Everyone see waiting. It's better than Legally Blonde. That's all I have to say.
