Midnight and poetry

Alone and empty, with nothing left but an empty void.
Tears fall onto a blank page. A stain upon her heart.
His words fill her soul as she stares at nothing
Lies whispered in her ear from the very start.

The traffic flies below, as he looks down from the bridge
a condemning and terrifying site, but welcoming to him.
His home, his family, and his job taken mercilessly.
An alcohol induced ocean, and he cannot swim.

Their laughter rings deafening in the young boys ears
as he hides away in a crowded bathroom stall
far from their prying eyes and secretive whispers
all waiting for him to make a mistake, trip and fall.

A shotgun, a step, a bottle of pills, all taken to numb the pain.
A single act to resolve all conflicts, and make the misery go away.
Why not acceptance? We all turn away from their harsh reality.
They could have gotten through it some how, and lived for another day.
