Just because holidays become commercialized, doesn't mean that the message behind them isn't great. Any holiday that promotes compassion, love, and community is ok by me.
While yes, it's great to think that everyone will do those "little things" throughout the year, honestly, they won't all think to do that. The "little push", or, as some think, obligation, of Valentine's Day at least will help some people who were about to break. They will see that they are loved. And that's the best part of all about Valentine's Day.
