So, I know a lot of people may have heard of the show Faking It. You might have some... or a lot of... negative feelings about it based on what you've heard. But fear not. It's actually not as alienating or offensive as you might expect, and neither is Amy here. Here's the scoop on her: Amy Raudenfeld is your average Texas teenager. She was Homecoming Queen at her last school, she has a former beauty queen mother and Young Republican stepsister, and her family prays at the breakfast table. She's also fresh out of the closet.

See, Amy is coming from Hester High School in Austin, where geeks, minorities and activists are adored and classically outgoing social butterflies don't get as much attention. This never bothered Amy, who was content with anonymity, but for her best friend Karma it was a nightmare. So when they went to a party at Shane Harvey's house and were mistaken for a lesbian couple, Karma convinced Amy to play along for the attention. But while Karma was just pretending, Amy discovered that she was all in. She and Karma kissed at a pep rally and were appointed Homecoming Queens on live TV, and soon afterward, Amy realized that she was hopelessly in love with Karma. And that's how she wound up coming out to everyone in Texas before she officially realized for herself that she wasn't straight. At all, actually.

Unfortunately for Amy, in between kissing Amy in public and giving interviews to the school's Tumblr, Karma was carrying on a secret relationship with popular guy and self-professed lesbophile Liam Booker and telling her best friend Amy all about it. It was painful for Amy to hear, and she kept her feelings a secret from Karma for weeks in the hopes of someday seeing a sign that Karma was having new feelings too. In the meantime, she made some new friends in whom to confide in the form of Shane Harvey, an already out gay guy with tons of insight to share on the process, and her soon-to-be-stepsister Lauren Cooper, who was dealing with a coming-out process of her own as an intersex woman. But when Karma finally figured out what Amy was going through, she told Amy that she just didn't reciprocate the romantic feelings. So, drunk and hurt and humiliated on the night of her mother's wedding, Amy made the mistake of sleeping with Liam.

Karma doesn't know about that and the guilt is killing Amy, but at least this version of Amy has one comfort: she doesn't have to be around Karma for the moment and risk coming clean. Instead, she's being shipped off to boarding school in Maryland while her mother and new stepfather make some alterations to their home. Fortunately for Amy, Fandom is a great place to keep a secret, and in the meantime, she can take some time for herself to figure out the feelings she's been having and how to deal with them without making things weird with her best friend.

DISLIKES: Romantic comedies, celebrity magazines, reggae music, gratuitous political demonstrations, living in Texas, beauty pageants, honesty

Here's what you need to know about Amy.

▽ You can think of her as having an old soul, but that old soul is something like a grumpy (but lovable) grandpa. She doesn't identify with her peers and youth culture, but boy is she a good friend and source of support.

▽ She has a light Texas accent when she's emotional, but nothing pronounced. Her actress doesn't emphasize it a whole lot, but I'm taking minor liberties.

▽ She dresses in a lot of sweats and flannels and doesn't wear a lot of makeup. Her hair, however, is always conditioned and styled.

▽ Unlike Karma, she doesn't care about any of that popularity stuff. She's grouchy and judgmental of her peers and is more likely to watch her classmates protest their cause du jour from afar than join in.

▽ That being said, she has an open mind, and has a tendency to get swept up in her friends' interests. Amy will put aside her irritation with loud noises and drunk teens to accompany a recently dumped friend to an under-18 nightclub. But you can't make her dance to "Blurred Lines."

▽ She's gotten good at lying when she needs to, but more often than not she's blunt and straightforward. For the most part, unless something serious is on the line, Amy's an open book.

▽ Related to the above, Amy is likely to call people out when they say things she doesn't agree with. I will make sure to have her do this in such a way as to avoid creating player-to-player conflict. Please know that Amy's outbursts are all Amy, and if she calls someone out, that's her and not me. I'll probably send an email to clear that up on a case-by-case basis anyway.

▽ She swears a lot. Sorry in advance.

▽ Her sexual orientation is a little murky, but she's not straight. It's unlikely the show will ever officially say that she's definitively gay or bi or pan, but at the moment she's only interested in dating girls. She has, however, occasionally expressed attraction to guys.

▽ She's really not over Karma, but she's (mostly) accepted that Karma is straight and she's willing to try dating other people. In fact, she spent the bulk of season two doing just that, although this version of Amy is going to be in Fandom during that era in canon-Amy's life. Please be aware, though, that Karma will probably be a factor in any romantic entanglements Amy finds herself in, at least for a little while.

▽ One final note: because of the publicity she and Karma got back in Austin, Amy won't be surprised if she gets recognized. If your character is the type to browse the multiversal internet for human interest stories, feel free to mod knowledge of Amy from all the press she got as one of Texas' first lesbian Homecoming Queens.

Hi, I'm Michelle and I'm excited to write with you guys again! I know I flaked on a lot of stuff when I left last year and wasn't at my most stable mood-wise because of Reasons and Things, but my hope is that I can start with a clean-ish slate, so if I have anything to apologize for (and I'm sure that I do), please hit me up so we can talk it through. I really missed all of you and I'm thrilled to be back in the FH community.
