Update from yesterday and good news...

So, I bought my books yesterday and they only ended up being $657.71 -- actually, that also includes the cost of a 5-subject notebook, a school planner, and Chemistry SparkChart (TM). Apparently the bookstore's website was listing the new book bundles for some of the classes and the used separately sold books and CD-ROMs as all being required. Nevertheless, my books still cost quite a bit -- nearly $300 alone for my Chem class...granted, only two of the books were required and the other two were recommended. The bundle for my Accounting class? Almost $190. And my books are heavy as all get out. And for whatever reason, financial aid only covered $600 so I had to use my credit card to pay the balance.

Good news: Yesterday afternoon I got to work and was told by the GM that I was FoH Employee of the Month (for July) and he gave me a $50 AmEx gift card. It was so nice seeing my name on the FoH EotM plaque -- especially since they didn't get the annual plaques until a few months after I'd been EotM back in March 2005. We used to actually get bonuses on our checks and for a short period, that included the time when I got it, it was a bonus of $75.

Also, this past Tuesday (8/14) marked my 3 year anniversary working at the restaurant (according to the computer system; guess that was the date I was entered in that they used as my hire date -- Orientation didn't take place till the 16th).

Today is my last day of freedom before my classes start (I work tomorrow night, double Saturday, and work Sunday afternoon).

I need to start sorting through my school supplies at some point.

school, life, work
