Deathly Hallows: Detailed Reaction/Review, Part 1
What follows is my spoiled reaction to and review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It is random and includes babbling.
Okay, first off, in response to my speculations that I posted the other day:
Snape: Yay! He ended up being good.
Relationships: Hell yeah! One Big Happy Weasley Family! Okay, I'm pretty indifferent towards Harry/Ginny but it took long enough for Ron and Hermione to even get to that first kiss. And was it just me or did it seem implied that maybe Dean and Luna were going to get together? Boo.
Draco: So...kind of redeemed? He didn't go over to the good side but he had the fear of torture and death in him that kept him following Voldemort's orders.
The Not Squib: I didn't get it at first but then I saw posted on a forum somewhere that somone assumed it was Trelawney when she used her wand to set her crystal balls on collision courses. And I'm not sure and now I need to re-read all the books again, but was it ever mentioned that Trelawney may be a Squib? Thinking back, I don't think we've ever seen or heard reference of her doing magic before but I don't think anybody was even considering her to be the magical not!Squib.
R.A.B.: All the speculation that R.A.B. was Regulus Black was correct.
Slytherin's Locket: So not expecting that Mundungus swiped every-damn-thing from Grimmauld Place or that Umbridge would have taken it from him. Now I wonder whether or not she had any clue that it was Slytherin's.
Godric's Hollow 10/31/81: Okay, so now one else was there. How the hell did Wormtail manage to get his hands on Voldemort's wand to give it back to him in GoF?
Horcrux Harry?: He was! OMG.
Harry/Good vs. Voldemort/Evil: Go Harry!
Who Will Die? My predictions were all correct with the exception that Draco didn't die and Harry ended up coming back to life.
* I didn't get it right at the moment that Snape told Harry to look at him with his dying breath why until I looked at the next page and saw the illustration for The Prince's Tale and immediately new that the girl in the forefront was Lily then realized that -- OMG! Snape was in love with Lily and wanted the last thing he saw to be her eyes! And I cried. Now, I kind of like Snape in the movies, mostly because of Alan Rickman, and the fact that he doesn't seem as bad in the movies; in the books, I never really liked him too much but didn't want him to be evil. I cried all throughout the chapter The Prince's Tale.
* I would never have expected that I'd cry at Dobby's death or like Kreacher. Or that they'd be a kind of redemption for the entire Malfoy family.
* I cried when: Hedwig died, when Harry realized that Luna hadn't been home in a while b/c I was afraid that it was going to be revealed that she'd been killed, when Dobby died, when Percy returned and apologized, when Fred died, when Snape died and throughout his memories, throughout Harry realizing and accepting that he had to die then sacrificing himself, and I'm not sure I stopped crying after that until I finished the book.
* I think the character that got the reprieve was either Hagrid (he managed to escape death twice) or Draco even though he was in the epilogue and Jo said she's had it written for quite a few years now, she also said that she'd had to rewrite it a bit. I think the two that ended up dying that weren't originally going to were Tonks and Lupin.
* I'm in the camp that thinks that Jo was implying that Ariana was gang raped.
* I love that Neville is made of awesome and so happy that he survived and kicked some ass! I still would have preferred that he had been the one to dispatch of Bellatrix but he tried and got to take out Nagini.

A missing chapter of his seventh year at Hogwarts, inspiring his classmates, ressurecting the DA, and rebelling against Snape and the Carrows and just generally his journey to becoming The Boy Who Kicked Ass. And then a post-Hogwarts possibly AU fic, or not, since it wouldn't out right spit in the face of canon, circa The Epilogue that would be Neville/Luna despite the slight implications of possible Dean/Luna in DH.
The other fic would be a Petunia fic and how she dealt with her sister's death.
