the problem with people

May 12, 2005 13:06

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education.

He argued: "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in  life was to become a teacher?"  He reminded the other dinner guests that it's true what they say about teachers: "Those who can do. ( Read more... )

Oh, I know the feeling. I get that a lot when I tell people that I work for the government.

raaaaar.....i seriously considered being a teacher before. Go back to MC, actually. XD Pero my mom. MY MOM shot the idea down and said, "yung mga tinuruan mo, executives na, ikaw teacher pa rin."

I almost told her off and said "that's why it's a fulfilling job. You know you've done them good."

oh please. Don't mind them nalang.

continuation of the dialogue:

me: ganun talaga, mahirap talikuran ang calling. it's gonna haunt me someday if i don't deal with it today.
friend: ikaw bahala. kaso parang ang panget naman kasi if your peers are already earning millions and you're not cos you're JUST a teacher. plus, your students might even beat you to making it big. CEO na sila or something tapos ikaw, nagtuturo pa rin.
me: huh. where do you think CEOs learned the tricks of their trade? somewhere down the line, they've been mentored by teachers, and if you really wanna get technical about it, they wouldn't even be earning millions if WE teachers weren't patient enough to deal with them.
friend: sa bagay. SO, you wanna have lunch!?

haha....

pero nakakainis pa rin.

baka dapat tularan si wexistence, hindi na lang dinidignify ang stupid people who say "sayang ang brains mo..." or baka that person you were talking to had one of those teachers who pronounced hippopotamus with the accent on the 'ta.' poor kid.
