I'm glad to hear so much hype on Star Trek. I remember it as the first movies(other then Star Wars) that my father took me to see, good memories there.

Star Wars and Star Trek are apples and pomegranates. Star Wars is epic, with overtones of spiritual enlightenment, greater powers, and individual heroism making a real difference on a universal scale.(Talk about fiction!)
Star Trek is more about mans fight with the physical environment, his quest to quantify his place in the universe, while surviving in it.
Star Wars, the power of the mind and purity of spirit and purpose win the day, while in Star Trek it is Brains or Brawn, under a code written designed and implemented by mankind.
Basically, its Humanism vs Spiritualism.
Glad you had a good time though, just my random ramblings, never-mind me.
