As promised, pictures from last weekend's visit to the family farm in western Illinois.
It's difficult for me to write about this place without things sounding too nostalgic or cliche. It has a lyricism and beauty all its own, yet one riddled with eccentricity and humor. (This is, after all, the place that has worn the title "Hog Capital of the World" as a badge of honor for the past 60 years.)
I've never been a wordsmith, and I have no illusion that my words will ever do justice to its dimensionality. I have, however been trying to let it affect and inspire my work more lately, including a few clothing designs (perhaps the beginnings of a collection?).
In the meantime, I leave you with these pictures (including a
flickr photoset).
