I love vintage advertising. There's a jazz station here in Chicago that plays old-time radio shows on Saturdays, and we always get the giggles over the long-winded and awkwardly placed advertisements. Last weekend it nearly brought me to tears hearing the elegant

Ahem. In any case, imagine our delight when we discovered a tiny basement anitque store with 3 boxes full of filed magazine clippings, ranging approximately from the 20s to the 60s. Honestly, I could've had a field day in there. I decided to restrain myself, however, until things have settled in my life and I've got my decorating plans more organized. I couldn't resist this one, however, as a whimsical reminder for my sewing room. Sue insisted, and so should I - better prewash those fabrics! Speaking of sewing, any opinions on the new

McCall's pattern lines? For once, I'm actually more excited about the McCall's patterns. Not that there aren't patterns that I like from Vogue (actually there's about
half a
dozen or so that are
quite nice), it's just that generally the Vogue line has me at hello. They got rid of some
good vintage patterns, too (which luckily I snagged before they were gone from stores). Vogue, what's happening?
