ringing out the holidays

What a surprise! I arrived home from school today to a comment from the lovely elegant_musings that my bags had been mentioned at CraftZine! Here's the link. I'm absolutely floored. Thank you everyone for your sweet comments and encouragement of my craft; it really boosts my confidence to try new things. And do continue to let me know how I can improve that tutorial!

Another day, another set of classes. It certainly will be a busy semester, but I'm absolutely thrilled to start my stage design class. Just think - there's a whole section on costumes! :D It's almost making me regret I didn't take more design classes while I had the opportunity (not that my college offers a whole lot). A well. I also realize that I wouldn't have the same understanding of design I have today without my literature classes, the examination of texture and subtlety in story and story-telling. Costumes and fashion are just another means of storytelling.

Enough of my rambling, however. I know, Christmas is past, but I did finally get pictures of the gargantuan Christmas tree yesterday. We had de-decorated it on Sunday, and by the time I got home Monday my dad was just itching to get it over with and take down. Unfortunately, I didn't get home until dusk, and it's well-nigh impossible to get good pictures of a white pine this big without natural light and/or a ladder. So the fuller-scale pictures of the tree aren't really all that great, but I just couldn't resist including them. I did get some nice close-ups, though, my favorite of which I've included here. Check my Flickr for more!
