Roughly a week after the Cube and Emma was recuperating at the apartment.
She'd been released from hospital after an overnight stay. A few doctors had expressed an 'interest' in her 'condition' but she'd managed to 'dissuade' them. That is, she'd telepathically brow beaten the bloody quacks into submission. Having her name removed from any immediate hospital records had been a good idea too, she thought.
She hadn't touched a drop of alcohol since leaving the Cube. Taking the presence of her vodka as a subtle warning. She couldn't afford crutches, not in the same way. And now that her body was playing silly buggers with her? Lord knew what would happen should she go on a bender. Bruce had helped of course, the visits and thoughtful gifts reminding her she was on his mind. After something like that, it was nice for a girl to feel wanted.
She slipped into the shower, humming quietly as she pondered. Her body, that was a puzzle. She'd never had a hint of anything like this until now. The hot water hit, running across her back as she massaged shampoo into her hair. Whatever burns and bruises she'd garnered from her stay in the Cube were fading fast, but then she'd always been a quick healer.
The diamond-form, if that was what it was; It seemed she could turn it off when she desired, what had been a minute or so of concentration had now reduced to seconds. Once she'd gotten the hang of it, it was simple. But activating it...the secret eluded her. Pain would do it, that was readily apparent from the damn mouse trap. but conscious control of the transformation was beyond her. She'd get it though, eventually. She was doing the research.
As she rinsed out her hair, Emma made a mental note to get into the Library early, to collect some of the book she had on order. Emma turned to face the shower head as a blast of cold water slammed into her, forcing a gasp from her throat. Emma grabbed the cold tap, hurriedly twisting it off and-
"Oh bloody hell, not again!"
She turned, walking out of the shower and straight out the door. A pissed off and sparkly Emma stormed onto the landing and downstairs. "Max! What the in the fucking Hell just happened to the hot water?"
