Honestly. How pathetic that the deities had to copy that old fairytale for a new idea. It didn't teach a good lesson. Sometimes parents are too selfish and should let their children dance if that's what they wanted.

What about a parent, who... hypothetically... wasn't watching the child when the shoes were delivered, and so the child put them on?

I would say they are neglectful and scatter-brained to not pay attention. The girl who tries on the shoes dies at the end of the tale.
