so im back. and my trip was amazing. worth missing the prom three times over.
wednesday, we flew outta jfk on an 8 am flight to new orleans. then we DROVE to destin, florida, which is on the panhandle near pensacola, if any of you know it. we got lost so the fiveish hour drive turned into more then six hours in a small car. twas fun. finally got to the hotel, a reallllly nice condo with a view. right on the gulf. the next day we spent at the beach, and walking around, shopping a little, but mostly swimming and tanning. we all got sooo burnt. hurt like a bitch. the water was fantastically clear and warm, no jellies. twas great.
friday.... hmm... i think we went to breakfast and then packed up and left. we drove to ...well, we didnt know where we were going. the rehearsal dinner was that night, in somewhere in alabama, but when my dad asked for directions to the place, a faceless person [we cant figure out who] sent us directions to starkville, mississippi, where the actual wedding was. our hotel was there too, so it turned out that we checked into the comfort suits and went over to the chester [where the bride, groom, and her parents were all staying- my fam was too big to stay there, they wouldnt allow five people in one room] and we managed to catch up with most of my family.... g-rents, maybe four of the five of my dads siblings and their kids. met the groom. we all caught a shuttle bus to niceville alabama for the rehearsal party. it was at the brides aunts house, outside. man, was it clammy and chilly and HUMID. jesus christ. but, i "met" my cousin corey, who i havent seen in maybe eight years and didnt remember at all, and hung out with my cousins becky and annie, sisters. we're all within a year or so of each other, so it was really fun. everyone got rip roaring drunk. when i sya everyone, i mean corey, annie, and all th adults. anyone sixteen or under did not. my mother would flip if i drank in front of her, and she was after all, there.
next day we got up and hung out by the pool at the comfrt suites. nice place. had fun. corey was staying at my cousin ura's house down the road, and he was too lazy to walk over, and no one drove him over, so it was my immed. fam, and becky and annies fam [the gillards]. uncle jimmys fam was there for... maybe a minute, and uncle jay made a quick appearance too.
that night was... the wedding. a VERY nice ceremony, with nearly all family. the groom, scott's family is all canadian. they said eh all night. they use it like we would say, yeah or ok or right, on the end of a sentence. i never knew :P anyway, half hour ceremony and it was over, and we went to the...parish hall i think at the church for the afterparty. and thats where i met the mundeys.
the whole party was good, cutting the cake was SUPER fun and the dj was good, once the old people started leaving and the mundey boys were absolutely gorgeous kids i met who are NOT related to me by the way and arent canadian either. they live in pensacola florida tho. i nearly cried when i found out my camera was dead and i couldnt get their pic.
sunday was a morning of goodbyes, [corey was forced to leave before that, bc his dads always on his own schedule... we were So mad] and the rest of the day was at the pool. bbq at ura's house at night, and lots more drinking....
monday we woke up and said our last goodbyes and drove five hours to new orleans, and walked around, shopped, ate good cajun food, spent some time at the pool. good stuff. tuesday our flight wasnt until five thirty pm so we went to the cafe du monde for beignets, the aquarium, and i have maybe three pics there, and then the hard rock cafe, which kinda sucks by the way. not nearly ll its cracked up to be. then we flew home and got into newtown at about midnight.
one of the best experiences i can remember having.
glad everyone enjoyed prom, by the way. and pics of my vaca. soon.
