Why not the James Bradley one too? That`s the one I`m here with :D. JUMP fills up every year, so it might be wise to apply for both.

I had to pay for luggage being shipped from Tokyo to my host family, too. Everyone does, no matter what scholarship or if you`re just a semester student.

My friend says that her family speaks basic broken English. My host mom speaks ok English, but sometimes it`s really annoying when I have no clue what she`s trying to tell me. I`d rather be 100% lost in Japanese. She`s always speaking to me in English as if I`m a practice tool. T_T But I haven`t exactly asked her to stop speaking to me in English yet >_> Ignore my lack of effort for a moment.

The third paragraph, I cannot answer, nor can anyone else. There is no standard for what kind of host family, home, and town you will have. I am in a rather simple city with a host mom, host grandparents, and an older host sister who I have practically not seen at all so far (and she`s moving to Tokyo after this week for college), and a host sister in Indiana with YFU who I will not see until late June when she comes home. My friend got placed in Amagasaki, a city near Kobe. She has host parents and a host brother and sister (15 and 14 respectively). She and her family have gone to Karaoke with another exchange student and his family, her family has taken her around Kobe, she`s going to a concert in Osaka soon, and I have only been as far as a donut shop downtown amongst all the stores which I have yet to go inside (and even downtown Akita city is really not that impressive). You`ll have to wait until you are accepted and then when YFU tells you where you are placed.

Thank you! :3

I don't know if my birthdate will fit into next year's birthday year requirements set for the James Bradley scholarship... That's the only problem. Do you suppose that if I turned in my application sooner, I would have a likelier chance of being awarded the JUMP scholarship?

How much did it cost you to send the luggage? I need to save up... :3

I won't worry about the language, then. :D It's part of the culture, afterall.

=3 Hmm... With this one, I'd have to say that I'd be glad to get any family at all and enjoy the stay. xD
