It was Yuuta's birthday and Mizuki had found the perfect gift for him. He had considered what he should get his kouhai for all of two minutes, because wasn't it obvious what the younger boy would want? What every boy would want?

Certainly, every boy would appreciate at bright purple silk shirt imported from China, made from the best silks, and embroidered with cute little floral patterns, correct?

Mizuki had thought as much. And his data was far more superior than anyone else's, including that unstylish buffoon from Seigaku.

"Nfufufufu…" he laughed as he handed the salesperson his credit card. Yuuta was going to be so pleased.

"Happy birthday, Yuuta-kun. I brought you a gift," said Mizuki when Yuuta opened his door. Mizuki ignored Yuuta's no doubt shocked and grateful expression as he pushed past him and into Yuuta's dorm room.

Mizuki turned around with a flourish and began twirling his hair. He held out the gift, which was wrapped in bright green shiny paper the color of wasabi and smiled winningly.

Yuuta blinked for the first time since he came in the door. Mizuki knew this because he was just that dazzling, and no one could bear tearing their eyes away from him. He made a mental note to add this data into his "Fuji Yuuta, vol. 6.2" notebook.

"Uh… thanks, Mizuki-san…" Yuuta said. He took the gift and Mizuki began twirling his hair even faster in anticipation.

Now was the moment of truth. Now he would see Yuuta's face as he unwrapped the wrapping paper, his expression changing from dazed confusion to dazed adoration and awe (there was no doubt about it, Mizuki was sure).

Yuuta took the paper off and opened the box containing the purple silk shirt.

He blinked.

He blinked again.

His nose curled up adorably.

"You like it, don't you? Oh Yuuta-kun!" Mizuki was suddenly almost reduced to tears. Yuuta loved his gift! This was truly a happy day for them both.

"I… uh… I mean…" Yuuta was struck speechless. He liked it that much.

Mizuki couldn't help it. He gave the birthday boy a hug, making sure to wipe away a tear of happiness that had somehow escaped his eye before he pulled away.

"Wear it to dinner with me tonight, Yuuta-kun…?" he whispered in Yuuta's ear.

"I…uh… what?" Yuuta's eyes were wide and clearly he was happily surprised about this new turn of events. That Yuuta-kun, always so adorably naïve…

"Dinner," Mizuki repeated with a grin. "See you in two hours, Yuuta~!"

*

When Mizuki left, Yuuta spent half an hour spitting out a stream of what the fucks while staring at his new shirt (if one could even call it that). He spent another half an hour what the fucking at Mizuki in general. The next hour was spent preparing for their birthday dinner, though, because as insane and clueless as Mizuki could be, Yuuta liked him anyway.

It had something to do with Mizuki's naïveté, Yuuta thought.
