[Outside of one of the houses is a little girl playing hopscotch. There is a slightly worn teddy bear sitting on a nearby lawn chair positioned so he can watch.]
[Well, that's a pleasant surprise. It's hard to get big kids to play games sometimes.]
Okay!
Don't worry, it's real easy.
[Pointing at the hopscotch board on the pavement.]
You take a little rock, then you throw it, like this.
[She does, and it lands on the first square.]
Now I gotta jump over that on one foot, and then keep jumping all the way to the end and back. On the way back, I can pick up the rock. Then I try to throw the rock into the second square. Whoever gets the farthest wins.
[His balance is usually spot on and today isn't much of an exception, but he tries to wobble some for her benefit - he's not out to make a little girl cry here. Still, he finishes without any real trouble]

Do you want to play?

Sure, if you don't mind, but you might have to teach me how.

[The first square is always pretty easy, and she manages it with only a little wobbling.]
