Character name: Kamina
Fandom: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Timeline: The beginning of episode 8 before his final battle trying to capture the enemy's Dai-Gunzen.
Age: 17

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Kamina is extremely passionate about the goals he sets for himself and will pursue them without hesitation or fear even if it is seen as senseless by other people. He is usually a hot-headed but cheerful idiot who tends to make dramatic speeches that seem to fire up anyone in the vicinity that hear them (thus making him a natural leader obviously). He is also quite skilled with katana and is adept in piloting giant robots.

Appearance:
Kamina is thin and somewhat lanky. He has blue hair and never wears a shirt, opting to wear a big red cape with the Dai-Gurren Brigade symbol emblazoned on the back instead. His upper body is littered with tattoos and he wears enormous sunglasses at times as well!

Background:
Kamina is a young man from the underground village of Jeeha. As a young child, his father left, claiming he would go to the surface. Kamina only caught a glimpse of the surface world before returning underground himself. His father lets him go, promising to meet him up on the surface again when he's ready. As he begins to grow up, he becomes obsessed with reaching the surface as well, recruiting young men from the village to help him on his quest.

This is where the series begins and where we meet Simon, Kamina's "soul brother", who has decided to help him with his plan to drill through the roof of the village to reach the surface. Their plan fails, however, and Kamina is thrown into jail by the village chief for disturbing the peace. Simon returns to work and unearths an artifact: an unmanned mecha. Simon breaks Kamina out to show him his discovery when a large gunmen (a mecha) crashes through the village's ceiling. We learn that gunmen are piloted by beastmen who scour the earth's surface, trying to drive any human they find back underground. A young female sniper from a neighboring village descends with the enemy gunmen and meets Simon and Kamina. She introduces herself as Yoko and decides to join forces with the two of them. Kamina then gets the idea for Simon to pilot the mecha that Simon unearthed which he later names "Lagann". A combination of Yoko's sharpshooting, Kamina's bravado, and Simon's piloting skills defeat the gunmen. Using Lagann, the trio breaks through and reaches the surface.

Kamina defeats an enemy gunmen on the surface and tosses out the beastman pilot, effectively taking it over. He quickly names his new mecha "Gurren". The beastman returns with reinforcements that begin to overwhelm Simon and Kamina. Kamina is taken out of the fight for a bit after having his psyche shaken after landing on top of a human skeleton. Eventually, he regains his composure and the two defeat their beastmen opposition. Afterwards, Kamina returns to the skeleton to give it a proper burial only to recognize the bracelet hanging from its wrist as the one that belonged to his father. Grief-stricken, Kamina buries his father's remains and promises not to stop fighting until every human is free.

The next day Kamina runs into another beastmen, Viral, while hunting for food. Once Yoko interferes, Viral retreats to Enki (his gunmen) and smacks around both Simon and Kamina in their respective mechas. He pauses before delivering the finishing blow as he notices the sun beginning to set. Viral curses and promises to return the next day. He shows up at the dawn of the next day as promised, this time as a member of the Human Execution Squad. The battle goes much like the first skirmish until Kamina gets the impulse idea to combine Gurren and Lagann by having Lagann drill through the top of Gurren. Miraculously, this actually works, and a new mecha named Gurren Lagann is born. Kamina and Simon easily defeat Viral in the newly formed Gurren Lagann. Viral manages to escape by shooting a barrage of missiles that conceal his escape while he swears revenge on Kamina.

Next, they land in the underground village of Adai, where the inhabitants worship gunmens. We find out that this kind of worship is the result of a fake religion enforced by the village elder. The village possesses a law that only 50 people could live in the village at one time. After a woman gives birth to twins, two young orphans named Gimmy and Darry are sent to the surface world to fend for themselves. A boy named Rossiu, whose mother had been sent away in a similar fashion, decided to go with them. The Dai-Gurren Brigade welcomes them with open arms and all three become integral members of the force.

The next few episodes center on the trio traveling to different human settlements and gaining new allies, most noticably Kittan and his three sisters. The Dai-Gurren Brigade expands from the trio of Kamina, Simon, and Yoko to a massive resistance force with the ultimate goal of taking the beastmen capital of Teppelin and overthrowing the Beastmen Empire.

Personality:
Kamina is loud, brash, and arrogant. He is a boneheaded womanizer that appears to be clueless about other people's feelings though he does have occasional moments where he makes astute observations that no one else had noticed. He is quite cocky at times and does not accept things as they are. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

1st person sample:
[There's a flickering and the image settles on a young man wearing ridiculous sunglasses]

Ah, where the hell is this?!

[The screen flickers once more as he smacks the device a few times]

OI, SIMON?! YOKO?! ANYONE?!

[There's a long pause and the man looks around frantically. There's no response so he turns his attention back to the strange device]

....Tch. Did we get captured or somethin'?

[Still no response. Despite the situation, a smile creeps onto his face]

KEHHH! OI, OI, IF YOU GUYS CAN HEAR ME, IT'S TIME TO EXPLORE!

[And with that, Kamina headbutts the computer, leaving only scrambled static behind]

3rd person sample:
So many thoughts and questions were whirling through Kamina's head. They all intertwined, never allowing him to focus on one aspect for long. Where was he? How did he get here? Were Simon, Yoko, and the rest of the Dai-Gurren Brigade okay?

He was rushing down an empty corridor, looking for any signs of life, when he turned a corner and quickly came to a halt. There, on the floor, lie something of unparalleled beauty. He looked around quickly to make sure no one was watching him before taking a long stride and scooping it up with his hand. He held it out in front of him.

A BLACK BRA!

Not only that, the cups suggested the owner was someone with a large chest. Fortune was smiling upon him today. He inspected it closer: it unclasped in the front, allowing for easy access.

He took a step back. His body was warm, soul burning with the desire to find the owner. It didn't matter if they were human or alien, he was going to find them. No one was going to stand in his way. They couldn't.

Who the hell did they think he was?!

He was the silencer of crying children. The demon from Jeeha Village. The man who had destroyed thousands of beastmen with his bare hands. Oi, didn't they know?! He was the man whose soul burned the brightest: the great KAMINA-SAMA!
