There are so many things I should be writing reviews of right now, not least for a much-belated "Out of the Box," that instead I'm writing a Suppressed Transmission about the King of the Cats. (Don't go blaming me, it was Nancy's idea.) While delighting me to no end, it does leave you, my gentle LJ readership, somewhat bereft-ish. "What did Ken think of the new silent film of Call of Cthulhu?", I hear you cry. "Where is his review of The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana?", I hear
ratmmjess cry. Answers to all these cries are coming up when I get around to it, but for now, I can at least link you to a
review of, well, me. This gracious review of my inaugural Occult Architecture Tour is by
Shotgun Reviews standout Ryan Lybarger, who was one half of one of the two couples on the tour. (The other couple didn't stay for the game session, as it turned out.)
I'd feel slightly more shamed about linking to such a generous review of my work if a) I ever felt the slightest shame in self-promotion, or b) the overwhelming topic of curious inquiry I encountered at GenCon SoCal wasn't "so how did those tours work out, anyhow"? Admittedly, I asked for it a little by attending
tav_behemoth's "Professional Game Mastering" panel, but still. Short answer -- we didn't quite get enough sign-ups for the latter two sessions, but we do intend to try offering the tour again in the spring, once walking around the Loop for three hours doesn't seem like quite so much of a cruel joke. Long answer -- well, I'll let Ryan tell you.
P.S. I'm the one in the baseball cap.
P.P.S. For those simply STARVED for my further prattle about GenCon SoCal, as unlikely as that may sound to me, you can see how I sound to you on the topic in
ptevis' podcast interview with me at
Have Games Will Travel.
