Life in Kilograms

Mar 19, 2005 18:35

(Note for those who, like myself, were raised in a stubborn country that refuses to adopt the sanity of the metric system: 1 Kilogram = 2.2 Pounds)

Books:
Greek Mythography/Greek Religion - 20 Kilos
Modernist Women (primarily H.D.) - 15 Kilos
Modernist Men (primarily Ezra Pound) - 10 Kilos
Greek Literature - 10 Kilos
Wildstar's French Literature - 10 Kilos
Literary Anthologies - 10 Kilos
Art Books - 10 Kilos
Wildstar's Miscellaneous Literature - 20 Kilos
Narc's Miscellaneous Literature - 25 Kilos
Total Books: 130 Kilos

Clothing: 40 Kilos
Narc and Wildstar's Notebooks/Diaries/Writings: 20 Kilos
CDs/Tapes: 10 Kilos
Family Heirlooms/Assorted Antiques: 20 Kilos
Sacred Objects/Altar Items (Greek, Buddhist, Hindu): 15 Kilos
Art Supplies: 15 Kilos
Wildstar's Artwork: 60 Kilos

Our life is currently encapsulated in about 15 cardboard boxes and 6 suitcases. And yes, we had to weight each box individually. Hence the absurd list.

Our flight leaves early tomorrow morning. I'm expecting at least 18 hours total of travel.

My reading material for the plane:
Stendhal - The Red and the Black
Carson McCullers - The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
Roberto Calasso - Literature and the Gods
H.D. - Collected Poems (I just realized this book has accompanied me to at least 9 different countries)
The Homeric Hymns and Hesiod: Loeb Classical Library edition (in English and Greek)
Ten Plus Magazine: International Men's Fashion (200 pages of gorgeous eye candy)
Diva Magazine (Tori Amos on the cover + article about Susan Sontag + further prove that I am actually a lesbian-identified gay male)

Haven't slept in four days. Looking forward to finally seeing and/or phoning and/or writing many of you.
