Oh man, that will SO happen if you start watching now. I've watched since '88 and I've never been so freaked out. This storyline is pure slasher movie.
Won't happen. I don't know how long Days has been around, but I know that my soaps are pretty old. Well, B&B was around since 1987, Y&R was around since the 70s and ATWT, the oldest soap I watch, has been around since 1957. I recently joined a couple of online soap communities, and people miss soaps due to whatever reasons, but there are recaps, depending on which soap you are into. But you can never watch every single episode of a soap, unless it's a primetime soap like 90210 or Melrose Place which aren't on anymore, anyway.
I'm still concerned about the fact that I won't have any prior knowledge of a soap if I start to watch it. I could always try to get some information on it from the Internet, but it'll be difficult to get a handle on the general going-ons. You've got me considering the prospect greatly of watching one, though. XD Would you have any suggestions for my concerns? Thank you for trying to help. :D
There is still stuff I don't know about my three soaps. But I wouldn't worry about it. You figure out the important stuff in time. I couldn't get into GL, though, because I am already up to three soaps, and one more means I need to take more time to watch them. But you have friends who watch Days, and your mom watches it, so getting into it shouldn't be a problem. My oldest sister watched Y&R and the storylines on B&B and ATWT were interesting enough when I started watching those soaps and they happened to be on the same channel. Probably if I dropped them, I could get into another soap, but the stories are just too interesting. I can understand PJ's obsession with Days.
Watch it for a bit and look at recaps and see if it's something you can get into. I was saying before that Yahoo! has some good soap groups.
Thank you for your help. :D I'll check there for some background information, and ask around. I'll try to watch it on Friday, to see if I can get through the plot. I usually don't like to get into soap operas, because they've been around for so long, but I'm willing to try. XD
You think that's old, ATWT has been around since 1957. And GL, the longest running soap has been around since...can't remember...early 50s, I believe. I will have to look that up again.
Put it this way, Krissy doesn't watch soaps at all and didn't want to cuz she wouldn't know what's going on or who's who, but she watched today's and was totally taken ;D
