2007 NBA Preview

Oct 20, 2007 22:50

OK, I started this last year and did fairly well.  If you'll notice, I predicted the success of Utah last season.  I was correct with my Spurs selection for the NBA Title.

Here's how I think the playoff seeds for each conference will play out.

Western Conference

1. Phoenix Suns
2. Dallas Mavericks
3. Houston Rockets
4. Utah Jazz
5. San Antonio Spurs
6. Denver Nuggets
7. Golden State Warriors
8. New Orleans Hornets

Comments:  It was tough to leave LA Lakers off in the West, but without a trade for Jermaine O'Neal, this team is going no where.  If Kobe leaves, which probably wont happen, then they'll compete with the Clippers in the basement of the West.  San Antonio is seeded low because this team has old legs and won be concerned with losing games in the regular season to save their legs for the post season.  Look out for Houston!  That team is scary, if Yao stays healthy, this team will make some noise.

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls
2. Boston Celtics
3. Detroit Pistons
4. Orlando Magic
5. Toronto Raptors
6. New Jersey Nets
7. Washington Wizards
8. Cleveland Cavaliers

Comments:  I may be nuts to leave Miami off of the playoff picture but this team, after Wade is horrible!  They got desperate in this off season.  Parker was weeks away from heading to Europe after he was ran out of LA.  O'Neal is still effective, but he's already injured.  This team is far removed from their surprise run at the championship.  Orlando is seeded higher, but will not finish with a better record than Toronto.  My projection on Cleveland is if their two holdouts decide to sit the year out.

Rookie of the Year:  Kevin Durant - Seattle SuperSonics
Defensive Player of the Year:  Tyson Chandler - New Orleans Hornets
Most Improved Player of the Year:  LaMarcus Aldridge - Portland Trailblazers
Sixth Man Award:  Manu Ginobili - San Antonio Spurs
MVP:  Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns

Worst Team Record: Minnesota Timberwolves

Finals: Suns over Celtics
MVP: Stoudemire
