Writer seems to be an insult for someone who has affected me so much.
I remember the day I sat, with four others, in the cafeteria, each reading a Vonnegut book. We must have thought it the funniest thing ever.
I remember two Christmas' ago, when my cousin gave me my first book by him, I had no idea who he was, and I had no idea how much he as affected my life.
I also remember how I found my father's old copy of Blackbeard, long with my child books. I remember looking at it as a child, obviously too young to understand any of his writings, and now how it has helped the relationship with my dad. It made me feel my dad was once like me, long ago.
He taught me about life, with humor. So many times today I thought about a subject, and how Kurt Vonnegut had written something about it in one of the three books i had read of him.
Writer is an insult, J.K. Rowling is a writer, she makes nice stories. Kurt Vonnegut was god, affecting my life more than any person I have ever met, even more than Marx.
I guess nietchze (sp?) was right about god, just a couple centuries early.
