[There is a rustle of paper, as Lelouch can be heard murmuring softly to himself.] "Flattery will go far tonight."  Hm.  A little generic, but it holds a grain of truth I suppose...oh, wait, I was supposed to introduce myself, not read this aloud.  Even if everyone seems to enjoy doing that lately.

[A few seconds of silence, and then, Lelouch ( Read more... )

A new cook, eh? Well, you should watch out for Bonnefoy.

Hm? Bonnefoy? Whatever for? Don't tell me that he has a hideous wrath over a mere case of truffles.

Probably that. Also, he's a pervert.

...A pervert? I...see. I suppose I should keep an eye on him then. I appreciate the warning, ah...and your name is?

Oh! Forgive me. My name is Arthur Kirkland. I'm a strategist.

A pleasure to meet you, Arthur. Ironic - how Lieutenant Commander Kamotaro was just mentioning that I should've joined the crew as a strategist instead of a cook. Even if I'm inclined to disagree with that particular sentiment.

Really? Why would he have said that?

He believed that I had overthought the possibility of an actual thief stealing a couple of truffles, had I not been the one to take them unwittingly. He does have a point, I'll admit. However, I wouldn't be able to come close to possessing an adequate level of experience or skill in that field. I much rather leave the endeavor to you and the other appointed strategists, while I simply handle the meal preparations.

::a pause... Art is actually a bit... intimidated:: W-well. Yes. It takes a long time to train for these sorts of things. And you should probably be doing something you enjoy, right?

[A chuckle.] Oh, of course. However, I can hardly say that cooking is a line of work I enjoy immensely...but then again, I would claim the same for strategizing. Either way, the former would indeed be far more entertaining for me. I assume it's the opposite for you?

Actually, I don't mind cooking! I find it rather enjoyable and relaxing.

Ah, is there a particular type of cuisine you enjoy preparing?

I like to try different things. Meats, potatoes, sweets...

It seems we ought to switch shifts every now and then, hm? Although, the only problem would be the fact that I'd be unable to perform your job correctly. [Another chuckle.] So why did you decide to board the Victoria as a strategist?

It's alright. I like being a strategist. The Kirkland family has always been tied to the military. I joined the Victoria II because it is one of Ivona's finest military vessels.

Ah, I see. [In the moment of silence that follows, a crinkle of paper can be heard - his finger is absentmindedly playing with the tip of a paper crane.]
