Well, I suppose this entry is rather overdue, then, isn't it? I have several movies to spew at you about, as well as a few choice details regarding my future-non-homelessness. So, we shall begin with the by-far more important movie reviews. *smirks*
The movies I've seen recently are threefold... Clerks II ((most recent)), Superman Returns ((least recent)), and Pirates of the Carribean II: Dead Man's Chest ((in betweener)).
So, I'm going to lay it on you in terms I think everyone can understand. These movies are worth seeing in that precise order... although if you choose to eschew that last one, I wouldn't blame you. *shakes head* Allow me to explain my motive.
Pirates was, in a word, dissapointing. I could go on a rather long-winded diatribe as to why, but I choose to spare myself the repulsive indignity of reliving that near-three-hour waste of my life... This is, of course, also to spare you, my dear reader, your sanity... the few of you who yet retain a scrap.
As for the film helmed by our dear, newcome lad of chisled and pretty proportions, Brandon Routh. Superman Returns was, in fact, a rather uplifting surprise for me. *nods appreciatively* I wasn't bored for even a moment of it... Something I simply cannot say for this movie's predecessors... The acting was spot-on for the most part... Rarely did it go above and beyond the call of duty, but never did it fall below... *nods again* Honestly, my only beef with this film was that, simply, Superman didn't die. *holds up hands defensively* I know, I know... You few Last Son of Krypton fanboys out there seek my blood, but I stand firm. If you care for a rather more protracted reason as to why I feel it would have been a more poignant maneuver on the part of Harris and Dougherty, ask and you shall receive.
And, for our third installment, the crowning jewel, the pinnacle of filmographic achievement ((at least recently))... Kevin Smith's salute to midlife mediocrity... Clerks II. *shakes head, smirks* I cannot help but look fondly upon the time spent watching that movie. Anyone who was a fan of the first, you will absolutely adore the second. And for those of you who are worried that, having not seen the original, you will miss any long-standing jokes and the like... Fear not, for while dear Mr. Smith has done the faithful a service by throwing in a few Easter Eggs for their slavering consumption, he opted to rely far more heavily on the characters themselves, endearing as they are, to motivate both the story, and the laughs. And believe me, both can be found in abundance... ((Of course, in favour of the humor... I doubt Jay's tribute to Venus, in all of his naked glory, really helped to motivate any story. But damned if I didn't nearly asphyxiate laughing.))
All of that having been said, I shall return once more into the real world to tell the lot of you about the latest regarding my living arangements. As some of you may know, I've been, rather unceremoniously, ejected from my current roost... Or, rather, I will be come September. This has left me with a touch of fear regarding the future, as the current housing situation in the dwelling of my domicile is, frankly, abhorrent. *shakes head*
But, I fear no more... And nor should you. For a home of epic delight has fallen into my lap, in a most metaphorical fashion... I'll spare you the details, but for half of the price that we would have been paying to rent a small, one-bedroom-one-room-barely-the-size-of-a-broom-closet-apartment, we are being moved into a house. With a basement. Yes, indeed. Instead of paying the direct and unexaggerated equivilant of a mortgage as rent per month, we will be managing quite nicely at a much lower price-bracket.
And, with that, my fingers are sore. I apologize for the inevitable typos throughout... you'll have to forgive my sleep-deprived mind, as I have just gotten off night-shift. *grunt*
And for those of you waiting on a review for Phantom of the Opera, you shall have to wait until I have seen it a second time come the thirtieth... I believe consistency is a rather important element of theatre, and so wish to ascertain that quality's particular level before leaving anything writ in stone. Cheers, children, and remember always... There is no square-root of Pi... Pies are round.
