Time for my deep thoughts of today. I am new to LJ and it is somewhat different then my usual haunting grounds on the Internet.
I firmly believe one reasons that people are so open on the Internet is the anonymity of it all. Sometimes it is much easier to tell your deepest desires and fears to someone you don't have to look someone in the eyes and risk rejection or being laughed at. You can always just not log in or use the ignore button.
I think this allows a person to form a much deeper friendship with someone they may have never met face to face.
Now to my question to the world.
Have you ever created an alter ego online?
Did you do it just once for a bit in a chat room or was this a persona that lived on or still lives on?
How much did you change and did you ever admit to someone you met you weren't exactly as you seemed?
