Autumn Rainstorm

Oct 17, 2009 15:47

We had a thunderstorm move through this morning, the muted sunlight and contrasts were stunning, we all just stood out on the deck and gaped and "ooooh"ed and wished we had a better camera. The pictures I took are mere shadows of the reality, but I thought I'd share a glimpse with you. If I could gather up the scent of the rain and the leaves, I ( Read more... )

Many thanks! Autumn is such a fleeting picture unto itself, it's nice to catch a snatch of it for later.

Oh, I love these pictures! The flower's my favourite, but I've always been a sucker for Artistic Dead Trees, so I adore the last one as well.

(I'm so disappoined that the snow moved in here before the leaves had the chance to start changing this year - we just went straight from green leaves to no leaves. It's great to see some of the colour elsewhere!)

Every now and then we get a 'dud' autumn where just as the leaves are starting to turn some huge wind and rain storm comes through and rips them all off then turns them all to brown sludge on the ground, such a disappointment. Hopefully your next years autumn will have extra color just to make up for this one where you live!

You lucky thing - to see that down your driveway! (I don't even have a driveway and there are not enough trees here, but then again, that's because I'm on the coast, so I do have the Sea! But not anywhere near my window/door.) Your pics are lovely.

I admit to simply loving my yard, it's like getting to go camping at a pretty park all the time - especially when the guys in the campers behind us light a fire in their little fire-pit, then it even smells like it. :-) I had my share of years with no yard to speak of, so I completely understand - and the Sea, the Sea! Ah, that has a scent all its own.

I agree with this comment eleventybillion percent.

Also, your pictures are gorgeous... I agree, cameras don't catch half of what's there, but you got enough that I can imagine what it actually looked like! Especially the first and last ones - those are amazing.

I am constantly in amazement at the beauty of this world - when I get to heaven I'll probably just be sitting there gobsmacked for the first few hundred years. Glad to share!

Better camera? Nah, a good eye makes up for technology with subject matter like this.
Very good pics Prim. Very good indeed.

My brother has one of those gonzo-riffic expensive ones that can gather the light at nighttime and let you take jaw-dropping moonlight shots - he showed it to me while we were at the beach and took some pics of the moonlit ocean with moon to show me, they were amazing - I've been pining for such a gadget ever since.
