Yes, I do hope you won't feed me to Ellington this year.

Well, perhaps you ought to stop being so insufferable, and I won't have to threaten to.

I'm not sure I can stop being so insufferable. From the way you've put it, that's rather like asking me to stop breathing.

Then I suppose you'll just have to hope that I manage to keep to my resolution, won't you?

I suppose I will.

Luckily, I seem to have a knack for keeping to them. I managed all of my ones from last year, too, for another year in a row.

And you may be the only person I've ever known who does manage to keep them. The question then becomes whether you keep them for the following year or supplant them with the new resolutions and cease the practice of the old ones.

Do you?

That rather depends on the resolution, doesn't it? If it's a resolution to learn something new, for example, then it's not really one that can persist--since it's not as though I'll just up and forget it after I've learned it.

But if it's something like resolving to keep beating you at things because it's terribly fun when I do, then yes, I certainly do my best to keep them for the following years to come.

A fair enough answer, I think.

I really am going to puzzle out those little cupcakes with the pies inside them, too. Someone brought them for last Thanksgiving and I haven't the slightest idea how they did it, but it's absolutely marvelous! And I can't seem to find a recipe for them anywhere.

;~; Sorry--I crashed last night--! But I'm back now! misterblackbird December 31 2011, 12:41:02 UTC
Cupcakes with pies inside of them? Isn't that rather gilding the lily?

Not a problem, I did the same! <3 primrosella December 31 2011, 19:44:31 UTC
I thought so too, a bit, but they're absolutely marvelous! And delicious. And mostly I just want to know how in the world they manage to get the pie inside without upsetting the cupcake around it.

I'm sure there's some sort of trick to it--perhaps it's baked separately and then put together.

It must be quite a small pie, though.

Well, I'm making it my resolution to find out! Goodness knows it'll bother me forever if I don't.

And you can't simply ask how it was made?

They won't tell me! I managed to find the baker who did it, but he said it's a secret.
