Is there usually a big celebration for Halloween here?

Well, last year we had all the visitors from other worlds come to see us, so that was rather a celebration in itself! Things were quite busy that whole weekend, as I recall. And there were quite a few parties, I think, though there wasn't one big one, just a lot of smaller ones.

Ah, I remember you telling me before. Thank you, by the way, for bringing me up to speed about the City. It's been very helpful.

Of course, you're very welcome! Have you been settling in well, then?

I have. Even with the curses, I've managed to find my bearings around here pretty quickly. The city itself isn't too different from my own world in terms of how it's laid out.

Really? That must be very convenient, yes! I remember having a rather difficult time of it myself, back when I first arrived here, trying to get used to all the tall buildings and things. But I'm rather used to it now, and I'm glad that it's going well for you, too.

Your world's a lot different, I take it?

Oh, yes, very much so. It's all meadows and forests and lakes, and not at all like this.

You grew up somewhere rural? Or was your entire world like that?

Most all of it was that way, really. Things differed a bit from kingdom to kingdom, but most everything was wide open spaces--we don't have great tall buildings like this at all, except for the occasional castle or tower.

So by kingdom, I assume you mean what we'd call medieval times in my world. Small scattered kingdoms with lords ruling over areas of land that have knights to protect them and people to work their land?

No, not exactly, but it's similar. We do have people that work the land, of course, but we have towns and mills and things, too. And I know in other places in the world there are lords that hold title to land and things like that, but in Daventry it's really just Mother and Daddy and me. But we're certainly not particularly vast, as kingdoms go, so I suppose we don't really need all sorts of lords and things anyway.

So your parents rule over this kingdom. That would make your title Princess of Daventry?

It would, yes. I'm Princess Rosella of Daventry. But I don't often introduce myself that way, since there doesn't seem to be much reason to make a fuss about titles around here, and especially so when it's no one's kingdom anyway.

Just Rosella, then. I'll remember that.

Regardless of title or position, though, the world you come from sounds rather pleasant.

It makes things much simpler that way, I think. And it's what I'm used to by now, anyway.

It really is! It's a beautiful kingdom, Daventry. We do have our share of troubles, but it's certainly one of the nicer places I've heard of, really.
