It's not October yet, you know.

No, but it's coming up soon, isn't it? Perhaps they're planning to usher in the month with a storm.

And it would be rather ironic if the were, I'd say.

So you've already taken to fretting over it, have you?

I'm not fretting! And it's not superstitious, either. It's just...trying to be prepared, that's all, and it's not as though we don't have reason to think it might be wise.

Being prepared seems sensible, I suppose.

And it'll give me something to keep busy with, anyway, which isn't a bad thing at all.

I suppose that is true.

But, in any case, I imagine we ought to have a little while yet, since there's still a few days of September left. And as months go, this one hasn't been quite so bad, has it? So that's something, certainly.

Oh, and speaking of the curses we've had, are you back to your usual suit, then? Or are you still enjoying that lovely costume you had on the other day?

Generally speaking, no, it hasn't been so bad, and we do have a little time left before October. So prepare, I suppose, but don't fret.

No, I'm very much back in my usual clothes today. It was quite an impressive ensemble I had on, wasn't it? I still have no idea what possessed me to wear that.

It's a bit funny that I'm rather used to it by now. We've weathered out storms in the Warehouse so many times by now that going around checking everything is almost a habit, really. But it does make things easy.

I thought it was lovely! A bit unlike you, to be sure, but really very nice.

After as much time as you or I have spent here, it's little wonder that we'd be a bit used to it. You know we've fitted out part of the basements of the opera house with supplies and so on.

I suppose. I would have liked it better, I think, if I hadn't found out someone I'm less than fond of also liked wearing them.

It's only the prudent thing to do. I'll have to make sure I'm stocked up on everything, too; I suppose I'll do that a little later today or early tomorrow, and get it done with.

Oh? I'm sorry to hear that.

Not half as sorry as I was yesterday.

Well, it was only a curse, anyway. And it's over now.

misterblackbird September 28 2010, 22:05:33 UTC
I know that's true, but it still rather soured things. And it had seemed such a mild curse before that.

Because it made you have something in common with that person, you mean? Yes, I suppose I can see how that might make things a bit less pleasant.
