I think I'm the only one in the City who's actually used to rain the way everyone else keeps remarking on it.

But, either way, you're competing in the tournament? It must be archery, since you mention aim.

Well, you've seen firsthand that we don't often get weather like this in Daventry, anyway.

It is! Caspian convinced me to give it a try. I'd been wanting to get back into practice with my bow anyway, and I thought the tournament would be a good way to motivate myself.

We got it enough in London. I suppose that is the difference.

I'll see you there, then.

You're competing, as well? Really? You don't, er, strike me as the sort to use a bow and arrow, if you'll pardon my saying so.

I am, yes, though with my pistol, not a bow. I know I couldn't shoot with a bow.

Oh. Well...they are rather different, I think...but in the end it's really a matter of how able you are at hitting the target, not what you use to go about it, I suppose.

I think your weapon takes more skill than mine, though.

You'd likely know better than I would, since I've never had the chance to try my aim with a pistol.

Would you like to try it sometime?

Isn't...wouldn't that be a bit, er, dangerous?

Reply

misterblackbird April 23 2009, 02:09:10 UTC
Only as dangerous as it would be if you were to show me how to shoot with a bow.

I may be wrong, since I'm hardly an expert on pistols, but I'm fairly certain that at least shooting with a bow doesn't involve things exploding.

The only place anything explodes is in the barrel of the gun. Thereafter, it's nothing more than a very fast, very small arrow.

...You'll really show me how, if I say I'd like to try?

Yes, of course. It would have to wait until the weather clears, but I certainly could show you.

Then...yes, I think I'd like to try. If you're sure it's safe, and I won't accidentally hurt anyone trying.
