I woke up at quarter to ten this morning (that's 9:45 for those of you who weren't around back when clocks had hands), which isn't usually a bad time to wake up except for the fact that I had to be at church at ten. I toyed with just not going, but figured if I did that I might decide not to go next week and so on and end up back where I started with the staying home on Sundays. Besides, I'm in the choir. So, um, yeah. I threw on the clothes I wore to work yesterday and ended up not even being late (although I missed choir warm-up).
I love UU services a lot, especially the music. One of the songs they do regularly is called "Spirit of Life", which has a really pretty tune, and simple, amazing lyrics that go like this:
Spirit of Life, come unto me.
Sing in my heart all the stirrings of compassion.
Blow in the wind, rise in the sea;
Move in the hand, giving life the shape of justice.
Roots hold me close; wings set me free;
Spirit of Life, come to me, come to me.
We sang that today, which makes me even more happy I went, because it's one of those songs that stays with you, and it's a pretty good concept to have running around the brain all day. It fits all religions, which is always a good thing. If I can find a copy of the music, I'll upload it; it's really gorgeous.
Since this is the second week I've posted something church-related, it may become a trend. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you. :)
