Sometimes I wonder why people just like to hate stuff.
I mean, I can understand disliking, but obsessively hating and disliking something (And yes, that includes the Twilight saga), to the point where they feel they need to make a point out of it through an art medium? Isn't that unhealthy?
Anti-comics, anti-clubs and groups, anti-stamps, websites, character bashing, the list goes on.
Isn't the point of fandom to be having fun? To be enthusiastic about something you think is cool, and connecting with others about it, over pairings, artwork, AMV's, fanfictions and brightening up the world with your additions to fandom? Is there so wrong about that? Is there something so wrong with thinking something is really cool?
There is something wrong with attacking people when they constructively criticize something they like (looking at you, Madoka fandom, while there is nothing wrong with liking Madoka), and likewise, there is also something wrong with attacking someone for liking something they don't like.
I've seen a lot of hate for My Little Pony and Homestuck and other assorted manga and anime and pairings, A LOT, and you know what? They are free to dislike it, they are free to express.
I just can't get why they need to OBSESSIVELY express their hate for something. Yes, even for the Anti-Twilight people. I don't like Twilight, end of story, I'm moving on to do something more positive and constructive.
To sum it all up:
Anti-stuff is fucking stupid.
Think the Twilight fangirls are annoying? Fine. Ignore them.
Think the yaoi fangirls are annoying? Fine. Ignore them.
Think the self-inserts are annoying? Fine. Ignore them.
Think the Bronies are annoying? Fine. Ignore them.
Think the Homestuckers are annoying? Fine. Ignore them.
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT APART OF THE STORY'S/TV SHOW'S/BOOK'S INTENDED AUDIENCE.
Homestuck is only meant for the people it's meant for, and that also goes for Twilight, My Little Pony, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and all the other assorted things with fandoms out there.
I like My Little Pony because it's a refreshing, feministic show that takes what is a long toy commercial at heart and fills it with characters that are themselves, that are athletic, that are scholars, that are artists, that are hardworkers, that are shy animal lovers, and that are friendly party-lovers, and aren't just smiling and tea-partying, and huddling in the corner whimpering as the evil villian looms over them, they are going out on epic adventures to save the world.
I like Soul Eater because it's a whacky, crazy story in a universe chock full of cultural references and kickass characters, excellent artwork, wonderful redefinition about human intimacy and wondering about the human mind, the way the plot can twist and watching our favorite characters grow up.
I like Homestuck because of the thick, extremely complicated plot, the believable characters, the level of intimacy the creator has with his fandom, the incredible amount of effort the art team and music team puts into making this an epic webcomic, and the creator's constant and omnipotent trolling towards his fandom.
I like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, because it is a gem among today's survival horror games, because it questions the morality of both the victim and the villian, because it is a breakthrough in ambience and environment and physic's engines, because it tells a terrified and desperate man's story of his chance encounter with the supernatural, because it takes a trip into the human conscious as you run to survive and escape, and because it is absolutely frightening. There a more reasons why I like all these, and other things. These are my opinions only.
Other people are not going to agree with me while others will, and I'm completely fine with it.
General rule of thumb:
If you don't like it, then it's not meant for you.
I still expect better of a lot of people I know than to constantly express how much they dislike something, and I used to be one of them. But I can now see that this sort of thing just starts endless flame wars, attacks and absolutely time wasting and unecessary hating shit, and I have vowed to never let myself become that person again I expect great artists and writers in fandoms to be above this sort of thing. Can we just have a little bit of maturity here, people?
OK I feel better now. I'm going to bed before I start mentioning names and posting links back to this particular sort of thing, including the particular stamp that set me off like this OK I'M DONE GOING TO SLEEP NOW
migraine incoming,
