Wednesday fic rec: 'One Fantastic Package' and 'A Day in the Life' by sangga
A conversation over on the connorandabby community reminded me of this linked pair of fics from way back in 2007, which have a place in my memory as the fics that were partly responsible for kicking off my Connor/Abby love.

'One Fantastic Package' is a lovely short fic involving a rather nasty encounter with a creature, and subsequently an adorable conversation, laden with humour and hurt/comfort, between a worried Abby and a Connor who is mostly high on painkillers. It's also a real treat for anyone who likes whumped!Connor. One niggle is that it's written in second person ('A Day in the Life' is written in third person), but it's not enough of a problem to detract from the story.
'A Day in the Life' kind of follows on from 'One Fantastic Package', although the two can be read independently of each other. This time it's a series of short scenes from Connor and Abby's domestic life together in series 1. Mixing humour with occasional angst, lots of mixed signals, and many of the touching moments that characterise Connor and Abby's relationship, it's a great window onto their lives away from the anomalies.
The characterisation is good for both of them, and both stories have a real feel for the nature of Connor and Abby's friendship, and the way it skirts so close to being more than a friendship in so many little ways.
