As many of you know, one of the most recent and extreme Nexus Events involved the kidnapping of a random sampling of the population here, and their extended trials and eventual execution at each others' hands on an unplottable island. After the point of death, the individuals were teleported, alive, back to the nexus where care could be administered to them.
Yesterday, Hermes, god of boundaries, travellers, wit, and commerce, patron of children, atheletes, and psychopomp of the Greek pantheon,
announced that he had orchestrated the event in order to neutralize the greater threat of Silent Hill and the dark forces that come with it.
You will have noticed on the grounds and within the school, many statues to this god. Hermes has extended particular protection to the school and its grounds, partially on historical precedent, and partially because he was asked to in order to provide this school with the highest level of protection possible.
I appreciate that some of you, especially those who had first-hand experience of the island, will have strong reactions to this revelation. Nonetheless, my decision is to continue counting Hermes as a major patron of this institution. If this causes you to question whether or not you will be able to continue here at the Institute, I will be happy to speak with you on the matter.
Please remember that Hermes is a god, and a beneficent one. While the school did not ask for and does not condone his actions, it is not our place to question them. As he has done all he could to minimize the damage of his actions, and knowing that without his protection this school will be far more vulnerable to attack from everything from 'lol' effects to Silent Hill and more eldritch dangers, I will not seek to sever the school from Hermes's patronage.
