NOTES ABOUT SOME OF THE SONGS IN THIS WEEK'S TOP 25.
This week's top spot is taken up by a group featuring David Sylvian and Steve Jansen of Japan in their ranks. Apollo 440 climbs into the Top Three and Thomas Dolby returns to the Top Five. Voice of Authority, another weird On-U-Sound collective that was never a proper group (and whose lone album actually appeared on Cherry Red!) has three new entries this week, the highest of which appears to feature Mark Stewart of The Pop Group at one point. Another song of theirs at the 16 spot features a woman who (seven years later) would be better known for dropping the vocal on Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy". Around the time of this Voice of Authority recording, though, she also appeared on The Missing Brazilians' "Savanna Prance". Mahogany is the other new entry in the Top 10 this week, The Wolfgang Press appears twice alongside Chantal Goya in the Top 15, and rounding out the Top 25 is soul singer Bettye LaVette covering the Elton John standard with members of Drive-By Truckers and various Muscle Shoals session musicians backing her up."
