Quite a fun weekend indeed, and it didn't even have anything to do with FF! Somehow, someway, which I can only explain through divine intervention, I managed to procure 3 days off from work in a row. I used this opportunity to head up to
Cedar Point and
Geauga Lake with a couple of friends. I'm a huge fan of rollercoasters and thrill rides, so going to these places is always a blast.
All my pictures are uploaded to a new gallery
here for all to see. Here is an excerpt though-
Back Row: Matt, Myself
Front Row: Jen, Dave
They tried to give Jen some flowers to hold, but she would have none of that. As for Dave, well, let's just say that picture is very accurate.
We rode almost everything worth riding at Cedar Point, including the new Skyhawk. It doesn't seem like a giant swing would be that exciting, but it was definitely worth the wait. Geauga Lake was so empty it was scary. Every single ride, including their best coaster X-Flight, had 0 wait time. You just walked right up to the station.
Now, for the last few pics- Cedar Point's "Project 2007"
Cedar Point is extremely good at keeping secrets, so it's doubtful they'll let any good info slip on what this is going to be, but here is my idea.
- It looks like those are rollercoaster pylons going up in the water
- It takes up all the space between the Mean Streak and Thunder Canyon. The water on the last picture is just off the Snake River Falls bridge.
- They just got rid of their log flume ride (the only other type of ride aside from a coaster that would require such a large expanse of pylons), and it doesn't make sense they would put another one up.
- There are T-shirts for sale with a "Voodoo Rider" logo on it. There's nothing in the park called the Voodoo Rider, and the logo itself has coaster tracks around the border.
- The last coaster built was 4 years ago in 2003. Since then they have added 2 new thrill rides (MaxAir and Skyhawk) and 1 development year (Castaway Bay). They are overdue for a new coaster.
- If it is a new coaster, it won't be a typical one. Cedar Point has always prided itself on having the tallest, fastest, unique coasters in the world and haven't added a "typical" coaster since Millennium Force debuted in 2001. I don't think this will be tallest or fastest, so there has to be some other gimmick they're going to use. Maybe it'll be indoors, maybe it'll go under the water, maybe it wil be a hanging inverted coaster like the X-Flight. The tallest and fastest X-flight type ride would be insane. Who knows?
That's all the info I could gather so far. I'll be taking more pictures when I go back over this summer and hopefully I can figure out what this is going to be.
